Infiniti is moving its strongest QX80 toward production earlier than first indicated. Initial discussion around the project suggested a 2027 arrival, yet current timing places the launch before the end of this year. The company also plans a tight supply for the United States, with annual volume set near 600 vehicles.
Distribution will not be even across the dealer network. Infiniti intends to assign inventory according to present QX80 sales results, so retailers with stronger numbers will receive more units. Limited production gives the new version an added layer of exclusivity from the first deliveries.

Last year, Infiniti introduced two concept vehicles that outlined the direction of this program. The first was the QX80 Track Spec. That vehicle used an upgraded 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 rated at more than 650 horsepower and 750 lb-ft of torque, equal to 1,016 Nm. A second concept followed under the QX80 R Spec name. This one adopted the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 shared with the GT-R and produced more than 1,000 horsepower. Infiniti does not plan to sell that version. The production vehicle follows the Track Spec formula.
Nissan senior vice president and chief product and planning officer, Ponz Pandikuthira, confirmed the power target while speaking about the new SUV. He explained that the twin-turbo V6 already serves in the range, then stated that performance now rises north of 600 horsepower, with market launch scheduled during this calendar year.

The regular QX80 remains far below that figure. Standard output sits at 450 horsepower and 516 lb-ft, or 699 Nm. This leaves a clear gap between the existing model and the new flagship. Reports linked to the project also suggest Infiniti may revive the Red Sport name, though no final badge has been announced.
Visual changes are expected to stay close to the Track Spec concept. Infiniti appears ready to carry over the front splitter, broader wheel arch treatment, and fresh side sections. Rear design includes quad exhaust outlets and a separate diffuser.

The wheel and brake hardware also move upward. The Track Spec concept used 24-inch wheels together with Brembo brakes. Infiniti needs stronger braking capacity because output exceeds 600 horsepower, and vehicle weight remains substantial.
The production number remains one of the most striking parts of the plan. Around 600 units per year means this QX80 will stay uncommon even in larger markets. Infiniti has now confirmed timing, power level, and limited availability. The final production version sits close to release, and the gap between concept display and showroom launch has narrowed quickly.
