Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has offered an early look at the updated 2027 T7 Multivan, which is scheduled to go on sale in the second half of 2026. That timing makes sense. The current Multivan arrived in 2021, so the mid-cycle revision was starting to feel due.
What has been shown so far is limited, though not entirely. One of the two previews is an official rendering, and the exterior changes are clear enough to identify the main talking points. Up front, the headlights are new and carry a more attention-seeking graphic than before. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles also introduced a clearer separation between the grille and the front bumper, a move the division says helps stress the van’s width.
There is more than styling behind those lamps, too. The facelifted model uses IQ.LIGHT matrix headlights with dynamic light assistance, dynamic cornering lights, and weather-specific modes. Small changes, perhaps—well, not that small—but they are the kind owners notice every evening rather than once in a brochure.

The wheel catalog grows as well. Based on the MQB Evo architecture shared with the Golf and several other transverse-engine Volkswagen models, the Multivan will be offered with six new alloy wheel designs in 17- and 18-inch sizes. The 19-inch Halmstad design has also been revised slightly. Volkswagen says that particular wheel remains especially popular with Bulli enthusiasts.
Paint options are getting attention, too. Matte finishes are on the way, and three new two-tone combinations are being added. The example shown in the preview wears solid Candy White with metallic Grey Brown, while the official rendering also confirms a blue-and-white setup.
For now, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is staying quiet about the cabin and the harder mechanical details. That leaves a few open questions, especially since the current Multivan has been criticized for cheap-feeling plastics and infotainment-related frustrations. The facelift could help there, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Powertrain work, however, appears to have a very clear direction. The priority is bringing all TSI and TDI engines into Euro 7 compliance. That matters because the upcoming rules are stricter in several ways. Emissions will be measured once the key is turned on, unlike Euro 6, which will warm up, and total compliance will be enforced. Euro 7 also puts vehicles through more extreme conditions in real-world situations such as extreme cold and very hot.
Measurement of the particles also becomes more rigorous, reducing its value to 10 nanometers. The standard of durability is increased as well: new automobiles and light production vehicles will be required to last 10 years or 200,000 kilometers rather than 5 years or 100,000 kilometers.
In Germany, the current Multivan family uses 1.5- and 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines, all with dual-clutch transmissions. The highest is the 1.5 eHYBRID and it provides a combined total of 242 horsepower and 258 pound-feet (350 Newton-meters) of torque. It has an electric range of 95 kilometers or 59 miles in the UK.
