Genesis has already set the timing for the updated G90. The revised flagship sedan reaches the market this fall, while recent road testing in the United States offers an early look at what changes are coming for the 2027 model year.

The model in question was caught on camera by Kindel Auto while performing road testing, and hides most exterior details, though several elements still stand out. At the rear, the taillights stretch farther across the body than before. Their shape follows the direction shown by the Neolun concept, with a flatter horizontal emphasis than the current sedan uses today.

The front section also changes. A revised crest grille appears under camouflage, while the headlamps and daytime running lights continue with full LED hardware. Genesis appears to push the face closer to the latest G80 and GV80 updates rather than introducing a separate design language.

Inside, the most visible change comes from the instrument area. The usual screen gives way to a digital triple-gauge layout. The graphic style looks influenced by the X Gran Equator concept, at least from what the prototype reveals through the windshield. The center display also shows a new menu layout. One point still remains unresolved, because Genesis has not shown whether the screen receives a dashboard-mounted hiding mechanism.

Genesis built the second-generation G90 from December 2021, then released the sedan for the 2023 model year. This mid-cycle update arrives with more focus on rear passengers, too. The company plans to add rear-seat features, which fit the role the car already holds in the lineup.

Driving systems sit in the background of this facelift, though there are signs Genesis still wants more there. SAE Level 3 automation appears among the possible additions. The brand first aimed for a 2023 launch of a true hands-off highway function, though the system never reached production in that form.

The delay happened while Mercedes-Benz and BMW began stepping away from DRIVE PILOT and Personal Pilot L3 as of April 2026, shifting attention toward Level 2++ solutions instead. Regulation stayed difficult, operating conditions stayed narrow, and customer demand stayed weak.

Under the body, Genesis keeps the V6 lineup. The U.S. market 2026 G90 starts with a twin-turbo V6 rated at 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet, equal to 530 Newton-meters. The version fitted with an electric supercharger raises output to 409 horsepower and 405 pound-feet, listed as 550 Newton-meters.

An extended-range electric setup has been discussed around larger Genesis products, including the GV90, though the G90 platform creates packaging limits. Rear-drive proportions leave limited space once an internal combustion unit, generator, fuel tank, battery pack, motors, and charging hardware all enter the same structure.
